Artist's Description

One of the most peaceful places in NJ is the Pine Barrens and I am lucky enough to call this place my home! The mornings here are so incredibly serene. One of the common trees in the area are the Atlantic White Cedars. They are typically found in wet areas that can be susceptible to flooding (whether natureal or man-made) They are sensitive to water levels and many wet areas in the pines have "white cedar graveyards" with skeletons of trees in the middle of the lakes. The wood is very resilient to moisture so the dead trees are able to persist in the lakes without rotting for many years. This photo has been digitally altered for a more detailed effect. Photo taken at Lake Oswego in Burlington County, NJ.

About Kristia Adams

Kristia Adams

I am a photographer located in the heart of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. I have had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember. My first camera, which I received for my 11th birthday, was a little Kodak that took the 110 film cartridges. I used all my allowance money for film and processing. I have upgraded my camera a few times since those days and now I enjoy wandering my great state (and places beyond) photographing places that may not be here forever. I specialize in nature and landscape photography.
