I awoke before dawn to capture the sunrise on the last day of 2022 at Makepeace Lake in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Unfortunately, the weather turned and before dawn, the mist and fog rolled in. It began to rain. I stayed until the sun came up. There was no spectacular sunrise, but I was able to capture some amazing moody images like this one. The skeletons of old cedar trees still stand in the waters of the lake. Atlantic White Cedar wood is amazingly resistant to water and the dead trees can stand in water for many years before falling over.
I am a photographer located in the heart of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. I have had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember. My first camera, which I received for my 11th birthday, was a little Kodak that took the 110 film cartridges. I used all my allowance money for film and processing. I have upgraded my camera a few times since those days and now I enjoy wandering my great state (and places beyond) photographing places that may not be here forever. I specialize in nature and landscape photography.
