Such a stark place to find oneself in - even if you are not one of the ones who can leave.

Artist's Description

This image was taken in one of the cellblocks at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, PA. The penitentiary was a first of its kind utilizing a radial arm type design with a central hub and "arms" of cellblocks radiating from the central hub. It was in operation from 1829 to 1971 and even housed Al Capone for a time. The building is a US National Historic Landmark and is open to the public 7 days a week.

About Kristia Adams

Kristia Adams

I am a photographer located in the heart of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. I have had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember. My first camera, which I received for my 11th birthday, was a little Kodak that took the 110 film cartridges. I used all my allowance money for film and processing. I have upgraded my camera a few times since those days and now I enjoy wandering my great state (and places beyond) photographing places that may not be here forever. I specialize in nature and landscape photography.
