Description
The railroad depot of the Las Vegas Tonapah Railroad, is one of the most intact buildings still standing in the ghost town of Rhyolite in Nevada. Rhyolite rose out of the desert quickly and disappeared almost as quickly. At its peak in 1907, 3,000 - 5,000 people lived here. By 1911, the mines had closed and the population measured under 1,000. By 1920, the town was nearly empty.
