Description
Thingvellir is a historic site and national park in Iceland, east of Reykjavík and is in the area known as the Golden Circle. The park sits in a rift valley caused by the separation of 2 tectonic plates, with rocky cliffs and fissures like the huge Almannagjá fault. One of the great things about this park is there are hiking trails that lead into the fissure and you can walk between the Eurasian and the North American tectonic plate.
