Artist's Description

Two lighthouses are located in the town of Gardur within a few hundred feet of each other both with the name Gardskagi (Gardskagi (1) and Gardskagi (2)). The one pictured here is the newer more modern lighthouse built in 1944 to replace the storm damaged original light house. This lighthouse is much taller than the original and is therefore located a little more inland than the original. The older lighthouse was taken out of commission as soon as more modern one was put in operation. The sea is a huge part of life in Iceland and the many lighthouses sprinkled about the country are hugely important to the island.

About Kristia Adams

Kristia Adams

I am a photographer located in the heart of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. I have had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember. My first camera, which I received for my 11th birthday, was a little Kodak that took the 110 film cartridges. I used all my allowance money for film and processing. I have upgraded my camera a few times since those days and now I enjoy wandering my great state (and places beyond) photographing places that may not be here forever. I specialize in nature and landscape photography.
