Bodacious Bob is one of the wild ponies that call Assateague Island home. Assateague Island is home to several herds of wild ponies. Two main herds live on the Virginia side (the northern and southern herds) and 1 herd lives on the Maryland side. Smaller bands exist within those herds. Bob and his band live on the Maryland side. Bob is an older stallion that was born in 2000. This image was taken in the early spring while he still had his shaggy winter coat.. Soon spring grasses will turn green and his coat will shed making him shiny and fat!
I am a photographer located in the heart of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. I have had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember. My first camera, which I received for my 11th birthday, was a little Kodak that took the 110 film cartridges. I used all my allowance money for film and processing. I have upgraded my camera a few times since those days and now I enjoy wandering my great state (and places beyond) photographing places that may not be here forever. I specialize in nature and landscape photography.
