Description
The Baldwin #26 Locomotive on the turntable at the Steamtown Historic Site in Scranton, PA. This national park site is a great place to get up close and personal with these wonderful historic machines.
The Baldwin #26 was built in 1929 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. This locomotive was kept by the Baldwin company and used for switching duties at its plant. It was sold a few times until it was finally acquired in 1986 by the Steamtown Foundation in trade for a Canadian National Railways Locomotive. Baldwin #26 arrived at the Steamtown site in 1990 just after the site was made a National Park. It was operating during the 2016 season for short train rides.
Astute viewers on this photo may notice that the Baldwin #26 is sporting a 26.2 number. This "temporary tattoo" was to honor the Steamtown Marathon that was being run that weekend.
